Build a Repeatable Workflow with Human Approval
A workflow with traceable inputs, decisions, approvals and results, including failures and retries.
Before you start
- A stable trigger and sample input
- Service access, test data and a named approval owner
Suggested workflow
Map the smallest workflow
List the trigger, data reading, AI organization, human approval and external action. The first version should handle one representative scenario.
Connect using test information
Compare n8n and Zapier connectors, hosting options and costs. Grant only necessary permissions and initially save output to a draft or test destination.
Put approval before important actions
Show the approver the actual recipient, content, amount or change before allowing messages, publication or other external writes.
Test errors and retries
Simulate missing fields, service timeouts and duplicate triggers. Record results and prevent one event from causing repeated external actions.
Check before delivery
- Can failures be detected, traced and retried safely?
- Will replaying the same event send another message or create a duplicate record?
- Can the reviewer see exactly what will be executed?
Limitations
- Self-hosting still involves hosting, backup, connected-service and model costs.
- A public template does not replace testing your own accounts, permissions and failure scenarios.
Candidate tools
- n8n
Connect APIs, data and AI in visual workflows, with execution records for every step.
- Zapier
Connect work services and AI steps to turn repeated tasks into automated workflows.
- Notion AI
Find information and organize content in your team workspace, connecting notes with next steps.
- DeepSeek API
Integrate language models, tool calls and structured outputs into an application through an API.
